Buckets in the Living Room and a Roofer Who Didn't Care.
Sometimes it’s not about replacing a roof. It’s about restoring trust.
A few weeks ago, I got a call from a frustrated homeowner dealing with a major roof leak. Water was pouring into his living room during storms, so much that he had buckets catching water all over the place.
Like most people would, he called a roofing company for help. But instead of real answers, he got a rushed visit and a hard sales pitch.
The contractor barely inspected the roof. They tossed a tarp over the area and gave him a quote for a full replacement without even locating the actual source of the leak. And here’s the kicker: the tarp wasn’t even in the right spot.
Now, here’s what most people don’t realize. Tarps are held down using cap nails. So not only did this contractor fail to stop the leak, they added new holes to the roof in areas that didn’t even need them. This homeowner now had active cap nails driven into his shingles, placed by someone who never took the time to diagnose the real issue.
Unfortunately, that’s all too common in this industry.
Most roofing companies don’t send out experienced contractors. They send out sales reps—people who are trained to close deals, not solve problems. Many of them have little to no background in construction, and they don’t know how to properly inspect or diagnose a roofing system. They’re taught to walk in, get a signature, and move on.
That’s not how we do things at Artisan Roofing.
When he called me, I scheduled a time and went through my full inspection checklist. I took the time to understand his concerns, climbed the roof, checked every critical area, and found the actual source of the leak. Once I located it, I applied a proper temporary patch and told him:
“Let’s wait for the next storm. I want to make sure we’ve stopped the leak before we talk about anything else. I’m not going to quote you something if I’m not 100 percent confident it’ll solve your problem.”
We waited.
Sure enough, a heavy rain came through a few days later.
That night, I got a text from him: “Not a single drop inside. You found it man. Thank you.”
That’s what we’re about. No sales gimmicks. No pressure. Just honest roofing done right.
If you’re tired of high-pressure salespeople, questionable inspections, and quick fixes that cause more harm than good, we’re here to help.
No pressure. Just real help.
